SAVE THE DATE  for a SHABBATON with Reb Lavey ☀

We are so excited to be welcoming back Reb Lavey Darby for an online Shabbaton on April 2nd. We were so enthused by his services, teachings, storytelling and meditations for High Holidays that we wanted another opportunity to spend time with him and Ellen Tobe. We still have a few details to work out, but we will have a Saturday morning service and Pesach teaching in the early part of the day. In the evening we will conclude our time together with Havdahlah and that may be the time that Ellen will lead us in a session of Otiot Chayot, a meditation/movement exercise based on the Hebrew letters. Time TBA, but the date, as Reb Lavey said, is in indelible ink!

MEDITATION WITH THE GOLDENS: Saturday morning March 5 9-9:30. Please join us for the monthly morning meditation led by Dick and Linda Golden. It is always a lovely way to say hello and join others in a special meditation space.

PURIM:  It was Purim 2 years ago when we had our first pandemic in-person cancellation.  This year, Mike and Robin are going to host an outdoor Purim party on Saturday, March 19 at 1PM at their abode in Indianola. Since we are doing better, but certainly not out of the woods yet, we are going to be asking that everyone coming above age 5, be vaccinated or have taken a test that morning. We would like an RSVP as we have a small canopy and heater, but will have to grab one of the larger tents that Shir Hayam owns, if needed. Bring Hamantashen, and your own drinks and noshes. Costumes encouraged. Please email robinhruska@gmail.com if you are planning on attending.

COORDINATING COMMITTEE:

COORDINATING COMMITTEE MINUTES: Monday, February 28, 2022 meeting:

Present:  Jon Garfunkel, Jane Greenberg, Jessica Lang, Sharon Rutzick, Paul Travis, Cay Vandervelde

1.  Planning for Visioning Meeting which was held via Zoom on Tuesday, March 1 from 7-9 pm, facilitated by Jon Garfunkel:

This is intended to be a Listening Meeting.  All voices will have a chance to be heard and the meeting will be recorded.   While this meeting and the one scheduled for March 20 are distinctly different, if one wants to address the Retained Earnings/Savings of the chavurah, s/he will have that equal chance to speak.  The hope is that each person’s dreams for the chavurah will have an opportunity to be heard rather than back-and-forth discussions within the Visioning Meeting.  Our plan is to work through each of the four areas described in the Announcement of the Visioning Meeting, and if time allows, there will be discussion at the end.

2.  Initial planning for the Retained Earnings Meeting which will be held via Zoom on Sunday, March 20 from 10 am – noon, facilitated by Paul Travis:

Paul will give the context for this meeting (with budget shortfalls, we have supplemented with Retained Earnings; no rollover from year to year of unused budgeted funds; a comfortable amount of existing Retained Earnings).  We discussed the process that will happen at this meeting.  Sentiments may have emerged from the Visioning Meeting which could affect thoughts about how we approach and use our Retained Earnings.  Any decision to change from our traditional way of handling Retained Earnings would require a quorum be present at this meeting.  Paul will ask Committee heads to be sure that at least one person from each Committee attends the Retained Earnings Meeting so information from that meeting can be utilized when each Committee formulates its Budget Request for next year. Coordinating Committee will debrief from the Visioning Meeting and help plan the Retained Earnings Meeting on Monday, March 7 at 7 pm via Zoom.

3.  Cay will draft a note to past members from the Coordinating Committee.

4.  Committee Budget Requests for next year submitted to CC by April 8, 2022.0

5.  Next CC regular meetings:  March 20 and April 24
