COORDINATING COMMITTEE:
Coordinating Committee (CC) Minutes Summary from 1/23/22 Meeting:
Present: Jon Garfunkel, Jane Greenberg, Jessica Lang, Sharon Rutzick, Paul Travis, Cay Vandervelde
1. Jessica introduced the Jewish Community Watch Google Site, an index of all reported antisemitic, racist, etc. incidents and responses in our local area. If Chavurah members have records of past incidents, learn of, or experience any such incident, please send this information to Jessica or Cay. We particularly want to connect with Steve Soltar, who is on the Multicultural Advisory Council, and Eric Stahl, who serves on the BI Race Equity Advisory Committee, should any incidents occur.
2. Jane proposed that the Chavurah establish a Security Committee with a point person who works with the CC. While we mostly meet in members’ homes in ordinary times, we need to find out what safety concerns, if any, members have around this issue. CC will schedule a time to meet and have this discussion on community preparedness.
3. As we have been reviewing, commenting, and discussing provisions in our Bylaws and Handbook, Cay will incorporate the resulting revisions into these documents so that they are consistent and more comprehensive. We will release this draft package to the Chavurah in February for review and comment prior to their ratification at the Annual Meeting.
4. CC will contact prior members who are not yet on this year’s roster.
5. We will begin soon to ask the Standing Committees to prepare and present their Budget requests to CC for the next fiscal year.
6. CC is planning to hold two Chavurah-wide meetings tentatively scheduled for these dates in March:
March 1 from 7-9 pm via Zoom: Visioning Meeting
March 20 from 10 am- 12: hopefully in-person: Meeting to Establish Guidelines for Use of the Chavurah’s Retained Earnings (Savings)
Please watch for Announcements for details about these two upcoming meetings.
Next CC Meeting on February 13 from 10-12 via Zoom
