STAY HOME STAY HEALTHY
What are we doing to keep ourselves sane during our Stay Home Stay Healthy weeks. Here are some ideas:
Lots of folks sent in recommendations for the Netflix show Unorthodox:
Here’s a link to the review in the NYT.

Others are recommending Shtisel – also on netflix
JEWISH FILM SHOWCASE | American Public Television is showing a documentary about Ruth Gruber. A very amazing woman. https://www.aptonline.org/catalog/JEWISH-FILM-SHOWCASE
Watch Kabbalat Shabbat Services Live | My Jewish Learning. In case anyone would like to be part of a Friday night service. https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/watch-kabbalat-shabbat-live/
The website www.myjewishlearning.com has many interesting articles and wonderful recipes – recommended by Cay & Jane.
It’s so important to find ways to experience art, music and the natural world even though we are cooped up in our homes/neighborhoods. Many museums, galleries, artists and organizations are offering ways to experience them online. Check out the website, facebook, instagram or youtube channels of your favorite artists & museums. Many are doing live shows and posting virtual tours. Here is a sampling:
The metropolitan museum of art – https://www.metmuseum.org/blogs/now-at-the-met/2020/digital-digest

THE SHIR HAYAM ZOOM ROOM
Shir Hayamers will continue to come together, celebrate, and support each other despite Covid-19-imposed social distancing. If you’ve attended one or more of the chavurat’s Zoom events, thank you. Well done! If you haven’t, please consider joining any of our upcoming meetings. You’ll be invited to our Community Seder in a separate mailing shortly. Every Wednesday at 7:00 pm, gather for Vos Tut Zich?, a virtual check-in and schmoozefest. Or join us for any of the virtual events to be announced in the coming weeks!
CSH Zoomers
For those who want to organize, schedule, and lead Zoom meetings, we’ve created the mailing list CSH Zoomers, a Google Group. Here is where we’ll share information and ask/answer questions about Zoom topics relevant to scheduling and hosting. Out of an abundance of caution, this group is hidden from the public and by invitation only. If you want to join, just ask any CPC member – Mike Orr, Paul Travis, Rachel Kerbrat or Denise Brown.
If you just want to attend meetings…
If you’re mostly interested in just attending, rather than leading, there’s no need to join CSH Zoomers. The instructions for joining a meeting are repeated below. If you’ve had any trouble or just want some handholding, please contact a Zoom support volunteer: Mike Orr, Rachel Kerbrat, or Paul Travis. We’re all learning to navigate this brave new world together, and we’re going to make sure you succeed!
When it’s time to attend a Zoom meeting, just click the link in the invitation and follow the prompts. If you’ve never used Zoom before, a tiny bit of setup is needed. See the review at the bottom of this email.
Zoom setup on a computer (preferred)
If you’ve used Zoom before, all you need to do is click the Zoom room link, shown above. If you haven’t used Zoom, a tiny bit of setup is required. Please follow these steps before joining…
On a computer (preferred)…Open a web browser and go to https://zoom.us/test/.On the ‘Join Meeting Test’ screen, click the big blue ‘Join’ button. The operating system asks your permission to run the Zoom app. Click ‘Open Zoom Meetings’ or ‘Open zoom.us.app’.You should see a video preview (video of yourself). Click ‘Join with Video’.Zoom may test your speakers and microphone, and then present you with a ‘Speaker and microphone looks good’ dialog. Click ‘Join with Computer Audio’. If successful, you’ll wind up in a test meeting all by yourself. Congratulations! Click ‘Leave meeting’ at the bottom right of the meeting window. You may have to move your mouse over the window to make the controls appear.
Zoom setup on a tablet or phone…Go to the App Store (iPad, iPhone) or Play Store (Android) and search for the ‘ZOOM Cloud Meetings’ app. Install it. That’s it! You’re ready.

You can buy gift certificates online and give them to folks delivering your mail, packages & newspapers or those working at grocery stores so we can all eat or to medical staff on the front lines of the virus. Some people have ordered food online to be delivered to clinics or hospitals. If you have a favorite Real Change vendor you can go online and donate to them directly via Venmo. We’d love to hear from you on what you are doing to keep making the world a better place.
