MESSAGE FROM CAY
I recently visited a memorial to Jews and others murdered in Budapest by a Nazi-aligned Hungarian fascist group in the winter of 1944-45. Victims were told to take off their shoes on the Pest bank of the Danube, before the people were shot – falling into the river and left to float downstream. I hadn’t known about this important site before. Attached is a photo. Flowers and yahrzeit candles there are remnants of the recent Holocaust Rememberance commemoration of the Soviet liberation of Auschwitz 75 years ago, which was observed, also, quite publicly in the region of Germany near where I live.
