BOOK CLUB – Crucial Conversations
Conflict scared me, and my coping strategy was to retreat into silence. Fortunately, I came across the book, Crucial Conversations, and as I read it, I thought, Oh, this is how people communicate. Crucial Conversations gave me the tools I needed to talk to people in high stakes situations. I found it was helpful in my interactions with my husband, daughter, and friends as well as pretty much everyone.
I am offering a book club centered around this book, Crucial Conversations. If you are interested in joining the group, we will be exploring and practicing ways to connect with people during tough situations. We will study skills and practice hypothetical or real time situations in a supportive setting. It will be a 4-6 week course, every other week. (You can help decide how many sessions you want.) I will suggest chapters to read before each session. If you are busy and don’t have the time to keep up, that will be okay as we will be breaking down, discussing and practicing these strategies each session. So, you’ll still get a lot out of the classes, even if you can’t keep up with the reading.
Please let me know if you are interested in joining the group. It will be on Mondays or Wednesdays starting around the middle or end of February. The book costs about $10 on Amazon in paperback. You will need to get your own book. Please email me to let me know if you would like to participate, and what day works best for you. Also, if your home is available for use some or all the days.
