JLC ROOTS FAIR

At our last JLC gathering on Sunday, October 26, we had a wonderful, laughter-filled morning of highlighting Jewish Humor. We told stories and jokes, practiced and performed a funny Fools of Chelm play, and sang joyous songs. Everyone had a great time, and even learned a few things along the way.

Our next gathering is Sunday, November 9, from 10 A.M. to noon at the Prices’ home on Coyote Lane. As with all JLC gatherings this year, the entire Chavurah is invited and encouraged to attend. Our hope is to make each gathering a multi-generational learning experience.

The theme for this coming Sunday is Our Family Roots. Each of us will have the opportunity to:

  • tell stories, or act them out, from our family history,
  • make up family trees while remembering our forbearers, and/or
  • discuss our role in our family’s lineage, and how to pass it on to future generations.

Food, as always, is a very important way we connect with our family’s traditions. So please bring a dish passed down to you from your family. We will break for brunch around 11:15, and then re-gather to share and wrap up.

And if you want to bring something from your family roots, perhaps photos, an article of clothing or jewelry, or a special piece of your family history, please do.

Come prepared to engage and/or just enjoy the gathering.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, The JLC Team, Araya, Cay, Lisa and Zann

He was born May 13, 1957. He is survived by Reisa, his wife of 36 years and his beloved children, Zac and Sara. David was a remarkable father, husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend.

He made a positive, lasting impression on everyone. David was a lover of people, music, travel, food and laughter. Celebration of his life was held August 27th on the beach in Ventura.

TIKKUN OLAM – THANKSGIVING AT HELPLINE HOUSE

NEW WEBSITE

Your Photos/Ideas for Shir Hayam Website are needed.

The chavurah’s current website was built approximately 8 years ago by Lisa & Sam Weiss and has been hosted by their company. They deserve a lot of appreciation as it helped us enter the 21st century! And, it’s difficult to maintain, photos are outdated, etc.

So Gabe Travis will be doing an overhaul over the next few months, in a system that’s easier to keep updated. Dad Travis’ consultancy will host the new site. They’d like your input:

1) Do you have any photographs from events, meetings, Kugelettes’ practices, outings? As high resolution as possible, for maximum flexibility.

2) Do you have any specific requests/ideas for our next web site? This is your time to speak up!

Email shirhayam@vivifyllc.com with either/both. (If you have more than 10 megabytes of pictures to contribute, an awesome mitzvah — simply use the free WeTransfer service).
